Columbia police investigate Monday night shooting on Sylvan Lane

Columbia police responded to a shooting on Sylvan Lane Monday night.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police officers investigated a shooting in the 1400 block of Sylvan Lane Monday night, according to a release sent out Tuesday afternoon.

The police department said officers responded to the area on a report of shots fired around 7:51 p.m.

Officers said multiple shell casings were found at the scene -- no injuries or property damage was reported.

Witnesses told police they saw a black passenger car driving north away from the scene after hearing the shots. No suspect information was provided in the release.

Police said the shooting is under investigation.
