Columbia man arrested on suspicion of weekend shooting

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police arrested a man Sunday morning on suspicion of a weekend shooting at an apartment building just off of Clark Lane.

Officers said no people were hurt and no property was damaged from the shooting.

A release from the police department said Jamie Burns, 26, was arrested. Online records say he was booked into the Boone County Jail at 8:29 a.m. on Sunday.

Police received four shots heard calls between 10 p.m. on Saturday and 1:30 am. on Sunday near the area of Eastwood Drive and Clark Lane, the release said.

The police department said officers were dispatched to the Woodlake Apartments complex after receiving the shots heard calls.

Police found multiple shell casings outside of an apartment, according to the news release.

Officers searched Burns' apartment and vehicle and found a handgun and ammunition, police said.

As of Monday morning, no charges have been filed in the case.

It's unclear from the release what caused the shooting.
