Second man charged with stealing $30,000 in Callaway County burglary

A second man is charged after a burglary at a Holts Summit residence after allegedly taking $30,000 during a burglary according to court documents.
According to court documents, Colton Birdno is accused of burglarizing the home of a safe that had $30,000 cash and a folder with deeds and titles in it.
The homeowner told the sheriff's department the safe was next to a wallet and other valuables but nothing else was taken.
According to the owner's family, Darik Giarratano texted the family member about having stuff to give to the member after not speaking to the family member for months.
A tip came into the area's crimestoppers about Giarratano stealing the safe and giving money to Birdno.
Officials say Giarratano was interviewed and said that Birdno broke into the house and stole the safe as Giarratano was acting as the lookout.
The two men then allegedly broke open the safe and dumped the papers and safe off a bridge according to court documents.
Birdno is charged with two counts of 1st degree burglary and two counts of stealing - $25,000 or more.
Court documents report Callaway County has a warrant out for Birdno's arrest.
