Deputies arrest Columbia man suspected of burglary after motorcycle chase
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Boone County deputies arrested a man Wednesday suspected of a burglary in southeast Columbia after he allegedly led authorities on a chase.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department said 22-year-old Matthew Baumann was arrested on suspicion of multiple charges including resisting arrest and delivery of a controlled substance.
Deputies told ABC 17 News that Baumann drove away from a residence in the 4800 block of Meadowlark Lane after a burglary was reported around 4:15 p.m.
Baumann led deputies on a motorcycle chase across Columbia before he got rid fo the motorcycle at a business on Keene Street, deputies said. A news release from sheriff's department spokesman Sgt. Brian Leer said Baumann ran West on the Highway 63 overpass and was later arrested in the Conley Road Hy-Vee parking lot.
Leer said Baumann had marijuana, packaging materials and drug paraphernalia in his possession when he was arrested.
Online jail records show Baumann's bail was set at $14,000. He has since bonded out of the Boone County Jail.
Court records show Baumann had a warrant for his arrest after he was accused of resisting arrest on March 15.
