Man attacked with soap in Boone County jail according to probable cause statement

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man is injured after being assaulted at the Boone County Jail last Friday according to a Boone County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement.

According to the court documents, Frank Phillips is accused of using a sock full of soap to assault another man in jail.

The victim was talking with another inmate when Phillips allegedly pulled a sock full of soap from his waistband and hit the victim across the face, fracturing the victim's cheekbone and damaging the victim's prescription glasses, the document reported.

Phillips was in jail for one count of assault and armed criminal action from a June 14, 2020 incident.

Phillips pled not guilty on Aug. 25 to the above charges. Phillips has a hearing scheduled for Oct. 9, for those charges. Phillips had his bond set at $50,000 cash bond.

According to court documents, Phillips has new charges of assault, armed criminal action and property damage. The three new charges bring with it a $50,000 cash or surety bond.

On Oct. 8, Phillips has a docket hearing scheduled and on Oct. 29 he has a case review scheduled at Boone County Court.
