Columbia teen charged with assault, gun charges after January shooting
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A teenager has been charged with seven felonies after he is accused of shooting at a car near the Columbia Mall in January.
Samiyon Myers, 15, was charged with first-degree assault, three counts of unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of armed criminal action and delivery of a controlled substance.
Officers responded to the 2100 block of West Worley Street on Jan. 19th for a report of a shooting. Columbia police said six juveniles were taken into custody, two later being released without charges.
According to court documents, Myers was seen on security footage displaying a handgun and shooting it at a car with four people inside.
Police said multiple bullet holes were found in the car.
Court documents state that when being arrested, Samyion was allegedly found with a clear baggie containing 206 small blue pills, later identified as Oxycodone.
Several guns were found, according to police. A stolen Springfield Armory handgun was found in a blue bag between Myers and another person.
Police said the security footage showed the bag with the juveniles while at the mall and later at a McDonald's nearby.
Documents state three other guns were found in a trash can, including a BB gun, an altered Glock handgun and a Palmetto Dagger.
None of the juveniles taken into custody provided a statement, according to police in court documents.
Police in January said a second juvenile was detained for unlawful possession of a firearm and trespassing, while a third was detained for unlawful possession of a gun. The fourth was detained for juvenile delinquency.
No injuries were reported.
Myers remains in custody.
