Columbia Police: Six juveniles detained after shots fired in West Columbia Sunday night

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police confirmed Sunday night six juveniles were detained after shots were fired in the 2100 block of West Worley Street earlier in the night.

A Sunday release states police responded to multiple reports of shots fired at 5:25 p.m.

CPD officers detained the juveniles in the 400 block of North Stadium Boulevard and recovered at least three guns, one of which was previously reported stolen.

A release on Monday states one juvenile was detained on four counts of first-degree assault, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and distribution of a controlled substance.

A second juvenile was detained for unlawful possession of a firearm and trespassing while a third was detained for unlawful possession of a gun. The fourth was detained for juvenile delinquency.

Two juveniles were released without charges, according to the release.

There were no reports of injuries, according to the release.

An ABC 17 News reporter saw crime scene tape blocking off West Worley Street near the entrance to the Columbia Mall and at least 8 CPD vehicles.

An officer on the scene told ABC 17 News police found multiple shell casings.

The scene cleared around 6:40 p.m.
