Columbia man charged with seven felonies after shots fired
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Prosecutors charged a Columbia man with two felonies related to a shots-fired call Sunday and five more felonies in connection with a February incident.
Clyde J. Johnson Jr., 50, was arrested Sunday after a shots-fired call in the 4200 block of Rice Road. Prosecutors charged him with illegal gun possession and armed criminal action after police found shell casings outside a home, according to a probable cause statement.
Police found a handgun with no serial number hidden in Johnson's home, the statement says. The victim told investigators that Johnson shot at her while she was in a vehicle outside his residence.
Johnson denied shooting a gun.
Prosecutors also charged Johnson on Monday with first-degree kidnapping, second-degree domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon, illegal gun possession and armed criminal action for a string of incidents that began Feb. 23.
The victim told police that Johnson had been acting paranoid and violent and had been carrying a gun, the statement says. The victim said Johnson burned and hit her during the incidents and barred her from leaving the residence, according to the statement.
The victim told police she left the residence last Thursday -- just a few days before the shots-fired incident.
Johnson denied the allegations.
Johnson remained in the Boone County Jail on Monday without bond. He has convictions on his record including robbery and assault.
