Jefferson City shooting suspect hit with more gun charges
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Jefferson City man accused in an April 2022 shooting that hurt two women is also charged with firing a gun in a separate incident about a month earlier.
Allen D. Vaughn, 19, was in the Cole County Jail on Wednesday morning, where he has been since his September 2022 arrest in a separate case. He was charged with two counts of first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. He is awaiting trial on those charges.
A trial is scheduled for late March.
The new charges, filed Tuesday, are two counts of shooting from a vehicle, three counts of armed criminal action and one count of first-degree assault. No hearing has been set.
Police allege that Vaughn fired at a moving vehicle on Hess Way on March 6, 2022. Officers stopped the vehicle two days later and found Vaughn inside, a probable cause statement says. A stolen .45-caliber handgun was also found in the vehicle, the statement says.
The first set of charges is for an April 2022 shooting in the 700 block of Adams Street in Jefferson City.
Officers found shell casings on the ground. Investigators also responded to the emergency room at Capital Region Medical Center for two women being treated for gunshot wounds. Police said one of the victims was shot in the hip and a bullet grazed the other woman's shoulder.
Vaughn is jailed without bond.
