JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City teenager is now charged in an April shooting that hurt two women.

The Cole County Prosecutor's Office charges 17-year-old Allen D. Vaughn with felony counts of first-degree assault, first-degree assault that resulted in serious physical injury, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action.

Police officers responded to the 700 block of Adams Street for a report of a shooting on April 10 just after 11:50 p.m. According to court documents, officers at the scene found more than a dozen shell casings.

Investigators also responded to the emergency room at Capital Region Medical Center for two women being treated for gunshot wounds. Police said one of the victims was shot in the hip and a bullet grazed the other woman's shoulder.

The woman shot in the hip was later transferred to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment. Police said the woman identified Vaughn as the person responsible for the shooting through a previous friendship.

According to court documents, Vaughn video called the woman moments before the shooting to find out where she was located.

Police said the woman believed Vaughn shot her and the other victim for telling investigators where he was hiding. According to court documents, Vaughn is an absconder from the Missouri Department of Youth Services.

The next day, police said officers saw Adams leave a home in the 300 block of E. Dunklin Street and get into a vehicle. Adams reportedly ran after the vehicle stopped and was arrested by officers.

Vaughn may also be a suspect in a different investigation. According to court documents, shell casings found at a different crime scene matched the gun used in the shooting on Adams Street.

Public court records don't list a lawyer for Vaughn.
