Hartsburg man pleads guilty to killing his father in 2022

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Hartsburg man pleaded guilty on Friday to killing his father.

Collin Knight, 25, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the September 2022 stabbing death in Ashland. He is being held at the Boone County Jail and will be sentenced at 8:30 a.m. Friday, April 25. He was previously charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

According to previous reporting, the killing occurred in the 18000 block of South Old Route A in Ashland. The father died after being stabbed more than 15 times, court documents in previous reporting say.

Deputies found Knight in the garage of a neighboring house after he contacted dispatchers, reporting indicates. He allegedly admitted to killing his father at the scene.

Knight also admitted to a probation violation in court on Friday in another case. He had pleaded guilty in 2019 to two counts of first-degree assault and was sentenced to five years of probation with a five-year suspended.
