Woman accused of tampering with video in Moberly child molestation case

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A warrant was served to a woman in Moberly who is accused of editing video related to a child molestation case.
Kristina Flores was charged on Jan. 17 with tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution. A warrant was served and she posted a $5,000 bond, court records indicate. She has a hearing at 9 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24 at the Randolph County Courthouse. A mugshot was not immediately available on Friday evening.
She is accused of tampering with video related to the case of Hector Marcos-Perez, 32, a Mexican national charged with second-degree child molestation of a youth younger than 12 years old. He is being held at the Randolph County Jail on a $100,000 bond. A bond review hearing is scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10.
Marcos-Perez is accused of sexually assaulting a child in the bathroom at a Mexican Restaurant in the 100 block of Wightman Street in Moberly.
Video footage allegedly showed the victim enter the bathroom of the establishment and Marcos-Perez entering about a minute later, court documents in previous reporting say. The victim is seen on video running from the bathroom door about 8 minutes later, along with Marcos-Perez exiting the room, the probable cause statement says.
Court documents in Flores’ case say police were put in contact with Flores about receiving video footage related to the assault. While police spoke with Flores on the phone on Jan. 3, an unidentified man allegedly said they were not going to cooperate.
Flores allegedly gave police 11 videos that showed numerous time gaps between cuts.
“There was no footage provided which showed the victim leaving the bathroom. The suspect is also not seen on the videos which had gaps in coverage between them,” court documents say.
Police tried to contact Flores for multiple days with questions about the video, the statement says. Flores emailed the officer asking what they needed and eventually sent four more files, the statement says. Files sent allegedly showed the gaps in between footage, which included Marcos-Perez following the victim into the bathroom, the statement says.
The mother of the victim allegedly told police that Flores called her on Jan. 3, the statement says.
“The mother advised during the conversation K Flores was aware of the victim's identity and asked if it was the suspect by the suspect's first name. This indicates K Flores knew the identity of the victim and suspect before she contacted me in the police station lobby or provided the first group of videos on 01/03/25,” the probable cause statement says. “It appears K Flores intentionally omitted parts of the video footage to conceal important elements of the reported crime the first time she sent me videos on 01/03/25.”
