Columbia man accused of assaulting woman at hotel, charged with four felonies

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man was charged with four felonies on Tuesday after he allegedly assaulted a woman and threatened to kill her at a hotel on Monday.
Maurice Lee, 34, was charged with first-degree domestic assault, second-degree kidnapping, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. A court hearing was held on Tuesday afternoon.
Court documents say police were called to Birch Hill Suites early Monday for a report of a man with a gun who was attacking another person. The victim had blood on their temple when police arrived, appeared to have multiple injuries and was losing consciousness while talking with law enforcement, the probable cause statement says.
The victim claimed they broke up with Lee the day before and he allegedly arrived to the hotel room – that was occupied by multiple people – and forced his way in, the statement says. Lee allegedly attacked the woman in a bathroom, shoved her into a sink and repeatedly punched her before pulling out a gun and threatening her life, the statement says.
Witnesses allegedly told police that he threatened to kill them, as well, after he pulled out the gun and pointed it “at everyone in the room,” the statement says.
