Murder, manslaughter charges filed in Columbia beating death

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man was charged Friday with murder and a woman with manslaughter in a November beating death in Columbia.

Alexander A. Aklan, 28, of Columbia, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Antonio Davis, 56, of Columbia. He had already been charged with first-degree assault, drug trafficking, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

Aklan and Felicia L. Hay, 33, are accused of assaulting Davis, with Aklan knocking him to the ground by pistol-whipping him, causing the victim to hit his head and be rushed to a hospital with a brain bleed, according to court documents. Hay kicked the victim, the statement says.

Hay had originally been charged with first-degree assault but a first-degree involuntary manslaughter charge was filed late Friday.

Aklan and Hay remained in the Boone County Jail on Friday without bond.

Davis survived the initial attack but died days later at a hospital.
