Columbia police respond to Stephens Lake Park following reported assault at Conley Road Walmart

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Several Columbia police officers responded to East Walnut Street in Columbia near Stephens Lake Park on Thursday night after an assault was reported at the Conley Road Walmart.

Officers at the scene told ABC 17 News that someone was assaulted at the nearby Walmart, and the suspect ran away. That person was detained near Reichmann Pavilion on the north side of the park.

Officers said no guns were used in the assault, but a gun was shown. An ABC 17 News reporter saw a man handcuffed near a police vehicle. Police said there were no other suspects and that there is no threat to the public.

There were at least seven Columbia police officers at the scene.
