A suspect in an assault at a Columbia park has been arrested in Iowa, court records show.

Thomas J. Stuhlman of St. Peters, Missouri, was charged Saturday with first-degree assault and third-degree domestic assault after he allegedly attacked a man and a woman early that morning in Peace Park on the border of the University of Missouri campus.

The male victim told an investigator that he suffered a facial fracture and doctors were concerned about his vision, according to a probable cause statement. Stuhlman, a student in Iowa, has a trespassing notice to stay out of the park, the statement says.

Stuhlman was also arrested at a University of Missouri dormitory in September on suspicion of domestic assault, police say in the statement.

Officers with the Centerville, Iowa, Police Department arrested Stuhlman, according to online court records. An order was issued Monday for his extradition.
