Charges filed in Columbia restaurant hostage situation
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Prosecutors have filed six felony charges against a man accused of taking a woman hostage at gunpoint at a Conley Road restaurant Friday.
Ricco V. Marshall, 39, is accused of first-degree kidnapping, two counts of armed criminal action, first-degree attempted robbery, unlawful use of a weapon and felony resisting arrest, according to court records.
Marshall is accused of trying to rob diners at a restaurant in the 90 block of Conley Road on Friday afternoon, according to a probable cause statement. He saw police as he left the restaurant after the robbery attempt and fled back inside, where he took the woman hostage and used her as a human shield. After he released the woman, Marshall told police they would have to shoot him to take him down, the statement says.
Officers used a stun gun and got Marshall into restraints, the document says.
The documents don't name the restaurant but police have said it is in the 90 block of Conley Road. The only restaurant in that block is Panda Express.
Marshall has Columbia and Moberly addresses listed in jail and court records but the probable cause statement says he is without a permanent address. He has a long history of criminal convictions including gun crimes, assault and property crimes, according to court records.
Marshall remained in the Boone County Jail on Monday without bond. An initial appearance is set for Monday afternoon.
