Police: Man arrested after taking woman hostage at Columbia business
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Officers used a Taser to subdue a man and arrest him Friday inside a Columbia business after he allegedly took a woman hostage.
Police were called to the 100 block of Conley Road a little after 1:30 p.m. for a man with a weapon making threats, according to a Columbia Police Department news release. Officers learned while at the scene that the suspect went into an unnamed business in the 90 block of Conley, the release says. A CPD spokesman said he could not provide the name of the business.
Police then saw Ricco Marshall, 39, leave the business, the release says.
Marshall went back inside and took a woman hostage after he saw police, according to CPD. Officers "took decisive action" to arrest him, including the use of a Taser, the release says. No bystanders were hurt and the hostage was unhurt.
Marshall was arrested on suspicion of first-degree kidnapping, two counts of misdemeanor fourth-degree assault and felony resisting arrest, CPD says.
Charges had not been filed in online court records late Friday.
He is currently being held at the Boone County jail.
