Teen arrested after leaving the scene crash in Mexico

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Police arrested a 17-year-old boy for allegedly driving a vehicle that hit a utility pole and drove away Tuesday morning.

Police received a call about a crash in which a vehicle ran off the road and hit a pole at about 7 a.m. in the 1700 block of East Liberty Street, according to a Mexico Department of Public Safety news release. Witnesses described the vehicle and police stopped a Chrysler Sebring in the Boulevard and Huntington Drive area.

Officers turned the teenager over to a parent and turned the case over to juvenile authorities. The teen is accused of leaving the scene, DWI, being a minor in possession of alcohol, marijuana possession, drug paraphernalia and careless driving, police say.

No one was hurt.
