Columbia man accused of shooting car while hitting man’s head with gun
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man was charged on Monday after deputies say he shot a car while hitting another man in the head with a gun on Saturday morning.
Lamont Washington, 47, was charged with second-degree assault, armed criminal action, illegal use of a weapon and second-degree property damage, a misdemeanor. He is being held at the Boone County Jail on a $16,000 bond. A court date has not been set.
According to the probable cause statement, law enforcement was called to the intersection of Chenar Court and Burning Bush Road for a shots-fired call. Deputies spoke with a man at a residence who claimed Washington shot his car, the statement says. Deputies observed damage to the car.
The probable cause statement claims that Washington drove to the man’s house and accused him of “sleeping with” a name that was redacted. Washington allegedly pulled out a gun and hit the man in the head with it, the statement says.
When Washington hit the man, the gun went off and hit the vehicle, the statement says.
A woman who was a witness to the incident allegedly told law enforcement that she did not see Washington hold a gun, but knew he carried a gun in his vehicle, the statement says. She allegedly heard the gun go off, the statement says.
Washington drove away after the shot was fired, the statement says.
