COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man who was accused of bringing a gun to Hickman High School last year while he was a student accepted a plea deal.

Shaun Jackson, of Columbia, pleaded guilty on Monday to misdemeanor unlawful use of a weapon. He was sentenced to two years of unsupervised probation and a suspended sentence of one year. He was previously charged with unlawful use of a weapon and misdemeanor drug possession.

According to court documents in previous reporting, a staff member told police that Jackson was “believed to be armed at school.” The staff member allegedly showed video of Jackson pointing a gun at a camera while in the backseat of a vehicle, court documents said.

Police interviewed Jackson at the school that day, where he allegedly admitted to having the gun and weed in his backpack.  Police found the gun, weed and 14 rounds of ammunition loaded in a magazine, the statement says.
