Trial scheduled for man accused of murdering woman in 2022, stuffing body in closet

Trial dates have been announced for a Columbia man accused of murdering a woman in 2022.

Adam Alfred Conner was charged with second-degree murder and tampering with evidence in a felony prosecution. A pretrial conference is set for 9 a.m. Monday, Sept 16. A jury trial is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24.

According to previous reporting, Conner is accused of killing a 58-year-old woman in October 2022 in the 1700 block of High Quest Drive. The victim’s body was found in a closet of the garage at the home. Conner allegedly told police he last saw the victim on Oct. 8, 2022, but apparently gave inconsistent statements, previous reporting from court documents say. He was arrested Oct. 11, 2022.

Conner had allegedly told his mother to not go into the garage on Oct. 8, 2022. The victim, a roommate of the mother, died from blunt force trauma to the head, previous reporting says.

Previous reporting says the GPS location of the victim's Life Protect device was at the residence. The device was allegedly pressed three times between 2:57-2:59 a.m. on Oct. 8, 2022.

Columbia firefighters arrived to the garage with a code to open the door, but someone else closed it when firefighters tried opening it, court documents said.  A man in the garage allegedly told first responders that the victim was at an area hospital.
