Pulaski County man charged with sodomy
WAYNESVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Waynesville man was charged with sodomy and other sex crimes after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman at his residence, according to court documents.
Gareth Rentasponce was charged on Friday with second-degree sodomy and two misdemeanors: Second-degree sexual abuse and second-degree sexual misconduct. An entry of appearance was filed on Tuesday and Rentasponce pleaded not guilty.
A warrant was served to Rentasponce on Tuesday and a $100,000 bond was set, court records show. A counsel status hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, July 29. A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12.
According to the probable cause statement, Rentasponce had allegedly messaged the victim on Facebook and sent them a friend request. The message allegedly stated that he was becoming a licensed massage therapist, was offering free massages and was looking for feedback, the statement says.
The victim allegedly went to Rentasponce’s residence twice and the first visit “went well,” according to court documents. The second visit occurred on June 28 and Rentasponce allegedly sodomized the victim during that visit, the statement says. The victim allegedly told law enforcement that they did not move and was in fear because of Rentasponce’s military experience and his fiancé was upstairs at the residence, the statement says.
