A jury trial was scheduled for December in a criminal court case for an umpire who is accused of assaulting a Camden County deputy last year.

Neal Sidebottom, of Versailles, was charged last year with first-degree assault and misdemeanor resisting arrest. The case was transferred from Camden County to Moniteau County on Tuesday. A pretrial conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30. The jury trial is set for 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2.

According to previous reporting, deputies were called to Ballparks National on Kissick Way in Macks Creek for a disturbance involving an umpire and a player’s parent. A press release claimed that Sidebottom shoved a woman during an argument and then choked a deputy.
