Man accused of rape, sodomy gets another felony charge after indictment
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man accused of rape and sodomy had another felony charge added in his case, following a grand jury indictment on Friday.
Tremane Bell, 27, was charged with first-degree domestic assault, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and tampering with a witness.
He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond and an arraignment is set for 8:30 a.m. Monday, July 29. Bell was previously charged with first-degree domestic assault, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy.
Court documents say Bell is accused of holding a woman against her will at his apartment and repeatedly assaulting and sexually assaulting the victim. The probable cause statement says another person – Taylor Kern – was in the apartment at the time and allegedly assisted in an assault.
Kern was also initially charged with first-degree domestic assault and first-degree kidnapping, but charges no longer appear on Casenet.
Bell allegedly took the victim’s cellphone and keys and prevent her from leaving the bedroom, the statement says. Bell allegedly started sexually assaulting the victim once Kern left the room, the statement says. Court documents say the victim was able to leave after they took their keys and phone back after Bell fell asleep.
