Morgan County man charged with 30 counts of failing to register as a sex offender

A sex offender in Morgan County was charged with 30 counts of failing to register as a sex offender on Friday.

Travis Duane Whistler, 37, of Gravois Mills, allegedly had 30 accounts on social media, dating and sex websites that he did not register with authorities, according to the probable cause statement.

A warrant was issued for his arrest on Friday and a $100,000 bond was set. He was not on the Morgan County Jail roster on Friday afternoon. The probable cause statement says he was arrested on Thursday and placed on a 24-hour hold. He last registered on May 30, the statement says.

According to court records, Whistler pleaded guilty on Oct. 24, 2018, to furnishing pornographic material to a minor and was sentenced to 180 days in jail.

Whistler was on probation for multiple crimes. According to court records, he pleaded guilty on June 24, 2019, to two counts of second-degree domestic assault. He was sentenced to shock jail time and five years of supervised probation, along with a seven-year suspended sentenced on Sept. 18, 2019.

An order to continue probation was ordered on May 30. Whistler pleaded guilty on the same day to drug possession and was sentenced to five years of probation with a 10-year suspended sentence.
