Jefferson City Gerbes evacuated for bomb threat

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City supermarket was evacuated because of a bomb threat Friday, police say.

Jefferson City police received a 911 call from the manager of Gerbes on Schotthill Woods Drive a little before noon saying the business had received a bomb threat, the Jefferson City Police Department wrote in a news release. The business had been evacuated by the time officers got there.

The Missouri Capitol Police bomb squad was called in to help with the search but it turned up no explosives, police say.

Jefferson City Police detectives are continuing the investigation but didn't have any suspects mid-Friday afternoon, according to the release.

The store was also cleared out after a bomb threat last August. No explosives were found.
