AUDRAIN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The driver in a May 16 crash in Audrain County that left three young children injured has been charged with DWI and other felonies.

Chloe Anne Hees, 29, was charged with driving while intoxicated, three counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, two misdemeanors – reckless driving and failure to register a vehicle – and three infractions of failing to have a child younger than 8 years old in a child restraint or booster seat.

An initial court appearance is set for 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 30.

According to previous reporting,  the crash occurred on Route N about a mile south of Martinsburg when a 2005 Cadillac – driven by Hees – was heading southbound and went off the right side of the road.

Hees and two of her passengers – a 6-year-old girl and 2-year-old boy -- were taken to University Hospital by ambulance with minor-to-moderate injuries, while her fourth passenger, a 2-year-old boy, was taken to the same hospital with serious injuries.

Troopers reported Hees and the 6-year-old girl were wearing seatbelts while both 2-year-old boys were not wearing a safety device at the time of the crash.
