Man wanted in 2023 Cosmo Park shooting arrested
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A man who was wanted and charged in a Sept. 30 shooting at Cosmo Park has been arrested.
Terron Dawayne Shelton Jr., 24, was charged on Oct. 3 with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. He was booked into the Boone County Jail at 4:19 p.m. Tuesday and is being held without bond. An initial court appearance was set for Wednesday and his next hearing was not announced. Shelton’s address is listed as Columbia on Casenet, but is listed as Kansas City in jail records.
According to previous reporting, police found the victim at the Super 7 motel on Range Line Street. Officers say the man had a bullet wound to his arm and the car he was in had several bullet holes. Police said in October they found several bullet cartridges around the soccer fields at Cosmo Park.
The victim allegedly told police he knew Shelton as a "fellow Lincoln University student," according to court documents from previous reporting. He knew Shelton from earlier "altercations."
