A man who was in federal custody at the Cole County Jail has been sentenced for federal drug charges, according to a press release from the Department of Justice.

Waun Ramon Ivory, 32, was sentenced on Monday to eight years in prison. He pleaded guilty on Oct. 26 to drug possession while he was in federal custody at the Cole County Jail.

The release states that Ivory was incarcerated pending a supervised release hearing in another case.

In 2017, Ivory was convicted in federal court of illegal gun possession and was sentenced to five years in prison, the release says. He was released to supervision on June 7, 2022, according to the release.

Ivory failed to comply with the conditions of his supervision, and a warrant was issued for his arrest, the release says. Before he could be arrested, he was charged with a new offense after a woman reported she was assaulted by Ivory. The court revoked Ivory’s supervision and sentenced him to two years in prison, according to the release.

While in the Cole County Jail pending the release hearing, Ivory was caught with cocaine and a razor on March 6, 2023, the release says.

Ivory is currently being held at the Cole County Jail.
