Sheriff’s Office: Teenager shoots person with pellet gun, hits vehicle with sword
BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A teenager was arrested on Thursday after authorities claim he shot another person and a vehicle with a pellet gun, before hitting the vehicle with a sword.
The name of the 17-year-old was not available. According to an email from Boone County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Brian Leer, deputies were called to Woodstock Mobile Home Park in the 3500 block of East New Haven Road around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
Leer stated the teenager shot another person with a gas-powered pellet gun. The victim was brought to an area hospital and was released after treatment.
The youth was arrested on suspicion of two counts of armed criminal action, one count of second-degree assault and one count of felony property damage.
The incident led to New Haven Elementary being placed on a “hold and secure” for about 40 minutes, according to a Thursday email from Columbia Public Schools spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark. A hold and secure means access in or out of the building was restricted, Baumstark wrote. The incident was not related to the school.
