Man at Pettis County assisted living facility accused of breaking jaw of another resident
SEDALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A man who was living at Pettis County Assisted Living was charged with first-degree assault after he allegedly attacked and broke the jaw of another man living there.
Tyler K. Thomas, born in 1988, was placed on a 24-hour hold, according to the probable cause statement. A warrant for his arrest was issued on Tuesday and a $50,000 bond was set. A court date has not been set.
According to the probable cause statement, a Pettis County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched around 9:45 p.m. Monday to the facility after an older resident was assaulted. Staff allegedly told deputies that when they checked on the victim, he was seriously injured, the statement says.
Thomas claimed that his girlfriend was asked by the victim to perform sexual acts and she said yes, the statement says. Thomas then went to the victim’s room and confronted him and claimed the victim wanted to fight, court documents say. The victim is described in the statement as missing his right foot and permanently being in a wheelchair. Thomas then allegedly admitted to the assault.
The victim was brought to University Hospital for his injuries, which included broken bones in his face, jaw and eye socket, the statement says. The victim allegedly told law enforcement that he didn’t know who hit him and “was very confused,” according to court documents.
