Columbia man charged with rape and assault arrested, has court appearance

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man who was charged with rape and assault was booked into the Boone County Jail on Thursday evening.

Aleksey Grigory Salaz, 21, was charged with first-degree rape, first-degree assault and first-degree sodomy. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. An initial court appearance was held on Friday.

According to court documents, Salaz is accused of raping and assaulting a woman he met on Feb. 24 at Harpo’s Bar and Grill in downtown Columbia. The probable cause statement says the victim was heavily intoxicated and Salaz loaded a gun in front of the victim at his apartment right before assaulting them.
