Audrain County man accused of rape from more than 15 years ago
MEXICO, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Mexico, Missouri, man was charged with first-degree rape on Friday for alleged sexual assaults that occurred between 2008-09, according to court documents.
A warrant was issued for Roger Allen Curtis, 64, on Friday and no court date was set. No bond was set for the warrant. Court documents say the Mexico Public Safety Department learned of the alleged incident on Oct. 29, 2021.
According to the probable cause statement, the victim told law enforcement that she was raped by Curtis several times. She allegedly told law enforcement that the first sexual assault occurred after Curtis threatened to shoot her, court documents say. He allegedly told the victim that if she told anyone of the rape, he would kill her, court documents say.
Law enforcement talked to several witnesses who were told about the sexual assault by the victim, and they stated details that were consistent with what the victim told law enforcement, according to the probable cause statement. The statement says law enforcement spoke with “several sexual partners” Curtis had, which were described as “consensual and un-consensual” in the document.
The probable cause statement says Curtis was charged with attempted rape in 1976. Police spoke with Curtis in an interview, where he denied the allegations but stated he was using drugs at the time.
