Man charged with manslaughter in Business Loop 70 crash now in Boone County Jail
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A man who was charged with involuntary manslaughter and other felonies in a Feb. 2 crash on Business Loop 70 in Columbia has been moved to the Boone County Jail.
Matthew Shilling, 43, was charged on Friday with first-degree involuntary manslaughter, two counts of armed criminal action, second-degree assault and driving without a license, a misdemeanor. Court records state he is from Boonville, while Boone County Jail records indicate he is from Rocheport.
Shilling was arrested by Howard County deputies on Friday and was brought to the Howard County Jail. Jail records indicate he was booked into the Boone County Jail at 6:20 p.m. Sunday. He is being held without bond. A court date has not been set.
Shilling is accused of causing a crash that killed Christina Mayfield, 32, on Business Loop 70 near Hathman Place. Court documents say a motorcycle driven by a person they have not identified was rear-ended by Shilling's SUV, sending it forward into another SUV and throwing the driver and Mayfield from the bike.
Shilling has nine convictions on his driving record for driving with a suspended or revoked license and another for no license, according to a probable cause statement.
