Man accused of 2023 Centralia robbery arrested
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A man who was accused of robbing a Centralia home in May was arrested on Wednesday.
Curtis Lamar Russell, 45, was charged on May 18, 2023, with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and armed criminal action. He was booked into the Boone County Jail at 11:02 p.m. Wednesday, online jail records say. Court records indicate that his bond for that case was set at $75,000. An arraignment was set for Thursday afternoon.
Court records state he also had a warrant for a probation violation. Russell pleaded guilty to illegal gun possession on Oct. 22, 2021, and was sentenced to five years of probation with a seven-year suspended sentence. No bond was set for that warrant.
Russell was also charged on Thursday with drug possession. A probable cause statement says a Boone County Sheriff’s deputy arrested Russell for his outstanding warrants on Wednesday. Deputies allegedly found a small baggie containing methamphetamine.
According to previous reporting, Russell and another man – Nicholas Burr Hunt – broke into a home and hit the victim in the face. Hunt and Russell then allegedly stole a wallet and $600, according to the probable cause statement.
Another victim was allegedly also hit in the face by Hunt, the statement says. Hunt and Russell then allegedly took a television and a power tool set. The first victim allegedly told police that Hunt had a knife and threatened to cut his throat.
GPS monitoring and surveillance video allegedly showed Hunt and Russell at a nearby convenient store before the robbery, according to the probable cause statement.
Hunt was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, third-degree assault, armed criminal action and illegal gun possession. A warrant was ordered on May 19, 2023, and no bond was set.
