Two men accused of stealing more than $40,000 worth of items from Sedalia storage units
SEDALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Two men were accused of stealing more than $40,000 worth of items from a Sedalia storage unit earlier this month.
One of the men -- Jordon Durland, 23, of Sedalia – was arrested and charged with three counts of second-degree burglary. He is being held at the Pettis County Jail on a $25,000 bond, according to a Facebook post from the Sedalia Police Department. A court date has not been set.
Another man – Dillon J. Palmer, 30 -- was named in the post. Police wrote in the post that Palmer is in custody at the Pettis County Jail for unrelated charges. The post states charges will be requested later. He is accused of first- and second-degree burglary and felony stealing, the post states.
According to the probable case statement, police were called to KO Storage on West Main Street on Dec. 6 for a report of a burglary. The victim had told police that someone broke into his storage unit and took more than $20,000 worth of items. Items stolen included sports cards, fine china, fishing equipment, Funko Pops and other items, according to the statement.
Police were called to KO Storage again on Dec. 9 for multiple reported burglaries, the statement says. About $20,000 worth of items were stolen from about 15 storage units, the statement says.
Video viewed by police allegedly showed two men in a U-Haul pickup truck entering storage units and taing items on Dec. 5 and 9.
Court documents state that only one U-Haul dealership in Sedalia rents out a pickup truck, and that the location only has one truck available. The location was able to provide the names of the men, who had the truck during the time of the thefts, court documents say.
Police also found a storage unit at West 50 Storage that was rented to Durland on Dec. 10, court documents say. A search warrant was obtained and police allegedly found multiple stolen items from Johnson County. Durland was arrested on Monday and allegedly admitted to stealing from KO Storage in Sedalia and storage units from Johnson County, court documents say.
