OSAGE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man who escaped from the Osage County Jail in October has been charged.

Alex Stieffermann, 33, was charged with escaping from confinement with a deadly weapon, second-degree assault and two counts of fourth-degree assault.

According to the probable cause statement, Osage County Sheriff’s deputies were notified about an escaped inmate from the jail. Stieffermann allegedly assaulted two detention officers at the jail when his cell door opened for his nightly medication, the report states.

Stieffermann allegedly hit an officer “multiple times” and took his facility keys. Stieffermann made it to a kitchen area and hit another officer with a fire extinguisher, according to the statement. The officer was brought to an emergency room after suffering from a head injury, the statement says.

Stiefferman then escaped from the jail using the facility keys. He was later found in Linn and was brought to the Miller County jail, the statement says.

Stieffermann was also charged with second-degree burglary and first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle in September. He was accused of stealing a vehicle from State Technical College.

He was also charged on Oct. 26 with causing damage to the jail. Stieffermann has additional charges for first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, second-degree burglary and first-degree property damage from June 22. He was also charged on June 1 with stealing a motor vehicle and misdemeanor stealing for an alleged incident on May 27.

A case review for all of those charges is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21.
