Osage County Jail inmate back in custody after escaping Sunday evening

OSAGE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

An Osage County Jail inmate is back in custody Monday morning after escaping late Sunday evening.

The Osage County Sheriff's Office says around 9:40 p.m. Sunday Alex Stieffermann overpowered and assaulted two detentions officers and got outside the jail.

After a three hour manhunt, Deputies say Stieffermann was back in custody after someone reported a suspicious person walking down 10th Street in Linn.

According to the Osage County Sheriff's Office, one detention officer was taken to the hospital for a laceration and was released. The other officer was treated on scene and was able to return to duty.

New charges will be filed against Stieffermann for assault on law enforcement and escaping confinement, the Osage County Sheriff's Office said.
