Fourth person charged in connection with Jefferson City park shootout
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Prosecutors have charged a fourth person in connection with an Oct. 5 shooting at a Jefferson City park.
Laquan L. Boose was charged Monday with four felonies: accessory to first-degree assault, accessory to unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and accessory to resisting arrest, according to court records. It was not clear Monday afternoon whether Boose was in custody.
Boose is the fourth person charged in the shooting that injured two people. One of the injured people -- Dayjuan L. Crossland -- is accused of pulling a gun and firing during an argument at a party with about 100 people at McClung Park. Police found at three least calibers of ammunition at the park.
Police say in charging documents that Boose can be seen on surveillance video during the shooting pulling something from a bag of the type commonly used to carry guns and raising his arm. Officers later found the bag with a handgun inside it during a vehicle search.
Boose tried to escape from the Prenger Center -- Cole County's juvenile justice facility -- but became stuck, according to the probable cause statement. He later told officers that he pulled the gun but never fired because the safety was on, according to the statement.
Denise Ann Word of Jefferson City and Raymond D. White-Murry of Holts Summit have been charged with helping Crossland.
One other person was hit by gunfire but the injuries were not serious.
