COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man who showed up at a Columbia hospital late Thursday with a gunshot wound has been charged with three felonies for his alleged role in a gunfight at a Jefferson City park.

He is one of three charged in the shooting last week at McClung Park.

Cole County prosecutors on Saturday charged Dayjuan L. Crossland of Jefferson City with three felonies in connection with the shooting at McClung Park: second-degree assault, armed criminal action and illegal gun possession.

Police were called to the park after dispatchers received multiple reports of gunshots. Officers found a party with about 100 people, according to a probable cause statement. They also found casings from three different calibers of bullets, indicating multiple shooters.

Investigators say Crossland pulled a gun and started shooting after an argument. Police found Crossland after being notified that he was at University Hospital being treated for a gunshot wound to his left shoulder, according to the statement. He refused to cooperate, police say.

Surveillance footage showed Crossland arriving at the party with Denise Ann Word of Jefferson City, the statement says. It also shows Word giving Crossland a gun from a bag she was wearing, according to the statement.

Word allegedly told officers that she left after the shooting but video showed that she was still at the scene, the statement says. She then told investigators that she remembered wearing the bag but was too drunk to remember Crossland taking anything from it, according to the statement.

Word is charged with accessory to second-degree assault.

Prosecutors charged a third person -- Raymond D. White-Murry of Holts Summit -- with aiding or abetting a shooting. A probable cause statement says White-Murry drove the car Crossland and Word were in away from the scene.

Shots were fired at another vehicle from the car as it drove away, the statement says. He was being held without bond in the Cole County Jail. No hearing has been set in his case.

Another man was also injured in the shooting and drove himself to a Jefferson City hospital for treatment. He has not been charged.

A Jefferson City Police Department release last week said officers also turned a 17-year-old to juvenile officers.

Crossland and Word remained jailed Tuesday without bond. Each had court hearings scheduled Tuesday.
