Columbia woman accused of taking more than $19,000 in SNAP money, lying on application

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia woman has been charged after authorities claim she unlawfully took more than $19,000 in SNAP benefits and made false statements on the program’s applications.

Andrea Rhoden, 33, was charged in Boone County on Wednesday with stealing $750 or more and unlawfully receiving public assistance. She was not in the Boone County Jail on Thursday.

A warrant for her arrest was requested and a $10,000 bond was set. A court date has not been scheduled.

According to the probable cause statement, Rhoden received $19,302 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits from May 2018-June 2023.

The statement says she did not declare the income for the father of her children -- who lives with her --  on the application for SNAP.
