Three charged with suspected carjacking and drug trafficking in Boone County
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Boone County prosecutors charged three people with carjacking and distributing drugs including fentanyl over the weekend.
According to probable cause statements, Sheldon Grayson and Nathan Kessler of Columbia and Mckayla Whitehead of Williamsburg, Missouri, are accused of being involved with a carjacking on North Keene Street.
In a statement, police say they viewed video from a nearby hotel showing the suspects arguing in a parking lot with another person. Kessler was allegedly seen pulling out a handgun, before getting in the victim's car and driving off, the statement says.
The statement says Grayson and Whitehead were later picked up at different locations.
Police say they found a rifle and a bag containing orange pills, some white powder and a scale during the arrest. The white powder was weighed at 8.63 grams and tested positive for fentanyl, according to the statement. The orange pills tested positive for amphetamine and dextroamphetamine.
The probable cause statement notes the suspects are also accused of a robbery a few days before this incident.
Grayson remained jailed Monday without bond, according to online court records.
