Jefferson City couple found guilty of child abuse given prison sentence

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City couple found guilty of child abuse and child endangerment in May was sentenced on Thursday.

Daniel and Christina Dubey were tried by the court and found guilty on May 30 of three counts of child abuse and two counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Daniel Dubey was sentenced to 12 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections. He will have to serve at least five years in prison before being eligible for parole.

Christina Dubey was sentenced to six years in prison. She will also have to serve at least five years in prison before being eligible for parole.

The couple was accused of abusing at least two children at their residence in 2018, according to previous reporting. Two girls were found running away from the residence and were heading to Texas. They were found soaked and not wearing shoes. The children were trying to go to Texas to see one of their parents, according to the report.

The children allegedly told police they were worried about being beaten or killed if they went back to the Dubey residence, according to the report.
