Man accused in Lake of the Ozarks boat crash that injured several people charged

Lake of Ozarks, Mo (KMIZ)

The man accused of crashing a boat into a house and injuring several people at the Lake of the Ozarks has been charged.

Adam Ramirez, 47, is charged with seven counts of boating while intoxicated -- causing physical injury. A warrant was issued Monday, but he is not currently in the Camden County Jail, according to online records. A court date has not been set.

According to the probable cause statement, Ramirez allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol while speaking to Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers. He allegedly said he consumed three drinks about two hours before the crash. Records indicate that he had a blood alcohol level of 0.185.

The boat was traveling between 50-60 miles per hour in a part of the lake where the speed limit was 30 mph. According to the crash report, Ramirez was driving the boat when it ran aground and hit the home. The boat then overturned and ejected all eight passengers on board. MSHP previously said two people were home at the time of the crash, but were not injured.

None of the passengers were killed, but six suffered serious injuries, according to the crash report.

One victim had a broken right leg, chemical burns and deep cuts across their body, including their head, according to the probable cause statement. The second victim sustained a leg injury, puncture wounds to the back and deep cuts on the head, neck and legs.

A third victim had a broken right ankle, a broken left foot, a large bruise on the right side of the head and lacerations across the body, the statement says.

The fourth victim had a broken hand, a face injury and deep tissue cuts. The fifth victim also had a broken wrist along with neck and back injuries, according to the statement. Victim six had a large gouge to the right thigh and deep cuts across the body. Victim seven had abrasions, lacerations and a possible fractured arm, the statement says.
