MEXICO, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Mexico, Missouri, man accused of murdering a man in the Audrain County Jail in 2019 has pleaded guilty.

Ryan Blair, 32, pleaded guilty Tuesday to first-degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Blair also pleaded guilty to third-degree assault in two separate cases. His sentences will run concurrently.

“Mr. Blair’s deliberate actions resulted directly in Michael Eisenhauer’s death,” Audrain County Prosecutor Jacob Shellabarger said in a press release. “This savage and terrible attack took a son and a brother from his family, and caused immeasurable pain to those surviving family members. Our sympathies are with them today, as well as a hope that they will be comforted that this murderer was held accountable.”

According to previous reporting, Blair allegedly admitted to investigators about planning and carrying out the murder, and that he had “specifically targeted” Eisenhauer.
