Inmate charged after allegedly assaulting DOC staff
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Missouri Department of Corrections inmate was charged Thursday for allegedly assaulting two staff members in April.
Jeffrey Scott, 48, is charged with two counts of violence towards a DOC employee. A court date has not been set. He is in the Algoa Correctional Center in Jefferson City. Scott was found guilty by a Jefferson County jury for driving while intoxicated – causing physical injury. He was sentenced to five years in the DOC – and given credit for time served – on Feb. 8, 2022.
On April 1, Scott was found to be in an intoxicated state by staff and was placed in restraints while being brought to the Administrative Segregation Unit, according to the probable cause statement. Scott eventually became unconscious and was given naloxone. Staff believed he was suffering from an overdose, the statement says.
Once Scott became conscious, he began kicking at staff, the statement says. He allegedly kicked one victim in the head and bit another’s forearm and broke the skin, causing both to get outside medical attention, according to the statement. One victim was treated for a concussion.
