Jefferson City police say gel balls used to hit people outside state office building

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Small balls filled with gel or water were used to hit people this week outside a state office building in downtown Jefferson City, police said Friday.

Police said in a news release that an 18-year-old man who owned the vehicle witnesses described as being the source of the projectiles implicated himself and three juveniles.

Police have asked prosecutors for multiple assault charges against the man. The juveniles have been referred to juvenile authorities.

Police on Tuesday confirmed reports received by ABC 17 News of people around the Truman Building in Jefferson City being hit with some kind of projectiles. Police at that time estimated fewer than 10 people were hit and said the projectiles didn't leave marks.
