JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Police found a handgun and drugs and detained three juveniles Sunday in Jefferson City after a report of shots fired.

Officers were called at about 4:30 p.m. to the 600 block of Waverly Street for shots fired, according to a Jefferson City Police Department news release. Police found the suspects in the 1400 block of Missouri Boulevard, the release says.

Police found a loaded Taurus handgun that was defaced and possibly stolen and "a large number of narcotics" from three juveniles. They were released to juvenile authorities, police said, and gun and drug charges are being sought.

Officers found shell casings at the scene that matched the handgun, according to the release. No property was damaged and no injuries were reported.

Five people were also arrested Sunday after a "weapons offense" at Walmart. Police didn't provide other details about that incident.
