Jefferson City man charged with forgery, allegedly stole more than $17,000

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City man has been charged with four counts of forgery after allegedly cashing fraudulent checks totaling more than $17,000.

Justin Trim, 32, is not in custody, according to the Cole County Jail. A warrant was requested Tuesday, according to Casenet.

On Feb. 24, Jefferson City police spoke with a victim who said multiple fraudulent checks were cashed from his business account. Police spoke to a witness – a branch manager and information security officer for Jefferson Bank – who provided photos and videos of Trim cashing the checks and copies of the fraudulent checks, according to the probable cause statement.

The witness allegedly told police that Trim provided multiple bank branches with a copy of his driver’s license and signature. Trim allegedly cashed four checks at four separate locations.

Each check was worth:

  • $3,875.77
  • $3,990.45
  • $4,380.15
  • $4,790.15

The total is $17,036.52
